Supply Chain Specialist

  • The Supply Chain Specialist role assists with sourcing and Supply Chain functions at Banneker Industries. This position assists in developing and maintaining a diverse supply base while achieving cost, quality and delivery objectives. Supports Supply Chain projects by deploying best practices, procurement tools and negotiation skills.  Assists with contract development, execution, implementation and management, along with regular supplier and customer reviews.

What we expect from our Supply Chain Specialist

  • Establish and meet quality, cost and delivery objectives through effective contracting, while improving internal and external customer satisfaction.
  • Prepare Requests for Quotes (RFQs); solicit bids and quotations; review and negotiate purchase contracts for commitments; analyze and evaluate bids to determine optimum value; select suppliers.
  • Ensure that Purchase Orders support business needs, balancing cost, material availability and inventory objectives.
  • Issue program purchase orders, blanket orders and contracts to meet the long-range quality, delivery and cost targets of assigned programs.
  • Achieve lowest possible cost for material balanced against optimum quality and schedule needs.
  • Issue purchase orders and other purchasing documentation, verify nomenclature and specifications of purchase requisitions, follow-ups and expedites as necessary.
  • Review purchase orders and contracts for conformance to Corporate Supply Chain and Purchasing procedures and Quality System requirements.
  • Analyze market and delivery systems to determine and ensure current and future material availability to support production needs
  • Monitor and analyze statistical data, product specifications and delivery systems to determine current and future material availability.
  • Interact with Operations, Quality and other departments that require materials coordination.
  • Provide input to Management regarding problems such as shortages, part obsolescence, and design changes.
  • Make recommendations, investigate, implement, monitor and report on cost savings initiatives; participates in program make-versus-buy events.
  • Implement continuous replenishment strategies with strategic partners & suppliers.
  • Balance current and future demand requirements with supplier capabilities and capacities to ensure on-time delivery of purchased parts.
  • Analyze data, including enterprise requirements planning data, and prepare reports as needed to facilitate and recommend actions to ensure optimal supply chain execution.
  • Contribute to maintaining compliance to Quality Management System certifications and participate in projects and initiatives focused on driving Continual Improvement throughout the organization.
  • Perform other duties as requested, directed or assigned.

What Type of Background & Experience Should You Have

Requires a minimum of bachelor degree or its equivalent with at least five to seven years of experience sourcing various commodities. Required additional knowledge or experience in:

  • Aerospace product quality assurance requirements and aftermarket support;
  • Contract law, FAR/DFAR, USS; 
  • Government contracting and export licensing requirements for offshore sourcing (ITAR); Developing and utilizing supply chain spend analytic models, maximizing leverage and margin.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and excellent interpersonal skills;
  • Strong technology and computer skills, including experience using MS Office products, mobile technology, web browsers and other technology resources;
  • Highly detailed oriented, organized and flexible with the ability to work under stringent deadlines and time constraints while under pressure;
  • Proven track record for delivering excellent service to demanding Customers.
  • Able to resolve complex issues with minimum supervision, and coordinate activities with other departments to meet deadlines.
  • Able to take corrective actions or escalate issues to appropriate departments.
  • Able to prioritize incoming requests based on sales and customer’s needs.
  • Strong customer service and retention skills required.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and interact with all divisions.
