Gallery Co-Operations Manager & Vocational/Career Coach
Looking Upwards is looking to hire a Co-Operations Manager/Career Coach to oversee the day to day operations of a gallery in Downtown Newport called Downtown Designs which is run by participants who receive services through Looking Upwards.
The Ideal Candidate for this position would have: small business experience, background in arts and jewelry design, ability to reach out and network within the community, Duties include but are not limited to:
• Manage the manufacturing, marketing, and retail operation for a jewelry/ art gallery, (Downtown Designs Gallery) under the auspices of a non-profit organization, Looking Upwards.
• Entrepreneur, creative & fun spirit.
• Direct, coach and mentor life skills.
• Assist in the finishing of all jewelry created by fairly independent jewelry designers/ adults with developmental disabilities.
• Enrich their lives supporting each person to accomplish their personal goals and small business goals.
• Ensure safety and a pleasant atmosphere.
• Oversee quality and execution of all jewelry repairs.
• Coordinate, orchestrate and initiate ongoing art exhibits involving local artists.
• Recruits emerging and seasoned artisans to participate in exclusive gallery events.
• Social media, marketing, computer skill ability. Curate the display of all art work and jewelry to maximize merchandising opportunities.
• Track all sales, payroll, inventory and jewelry supplies.
• Manage all gallery maintenance including researching and purchasing supplies and components.
• Orchestrate all craft show activities as well as home parties (including nights and weekends).
• Supervise set up and break down of displays at craft shows and special events to ensure exceptional and professional representation of each artisan.
• Empower folks to stretch themselves creatively & independently.
• Help create a culture of team pride, team spirit, high standards, and continuous improvement.
