HBTS (Home Based Therapeutic Support Staff)

Home Based Therapeutic Support Staff are responsible for providing therapeutic support to children and families in their homes under the direction of a licensed clinician. Employees follow a child's clinical treatment plan to address the development of behavioral, communication, social, and functional adaptive skills to assist the child's ability to maintain activities of daily living and be successful at home and in the community.

Positions are locations are located throughout Rhode Island.

Most shifts are "afterschool" type hours.

Job Description
Clinical Treatment Plans:
  1. Understands the content of each treatment plan and follows through on goals.
  2. Communicates with the Clinician on progress of goals.
  3. Assists caregivers in developing skills to assist their child's growth and development.

Communication and Team Interactions:
  1. Interacts in a polite, honest, positive and professional manner with families and maintains appropriate professional boundaries at all times.
  2. Seeks out support from the HBTS team (Clinician, Coordinator, Leads) when needed.
  3. Is solution oriented and can independently problem solve as necessary per the needs of the child.
  4. Immediately notifies supervisor during a significant event and submits report with-in twenty- four hours or sooner as necessary.
  5. Ensures the right to confidentiality by sharing information with the HBTS Clinical Team and parents/care takers if appropriate, and follows HIPPA protocol.

Documentation and Follow-Through:
  1. Uses specific, objective and descriptive language when documenting.
  2. Completes all required daily documentation and data collection as related to the treatment plan.
  3. Accurately accounts all time at work and submits on time.
  4. Adheres to assigned work scheduled and does not make alterations to the schedule with prior authorization from Treatment Coordinator.
  5. Contacts Treatment Coordinator when documentation data sheets are incorrect or finished for replacements.

Health and Safety:
  1. Is observant of and sensitive to the physical wellbeing of each child.
  2. Uses all physical interventions only when in accordance with current treatment plan after having been trained on proper techniques.
  3. Uses safe driving conduct and abides by the rules of the road when transporting a child.
  4. Ensures that each child is free from abuse, neglect, and mistreatment and immediately reports any violations accordingly.

Mandatory Qualifications and Requirements:
  1. Be at least 19 years of age.
  2. High school diploma or GED
  3. Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record.
  4. Access to and provision of an insured and inspected automobile on an ongoing basis.
  5. Ability to complete CPR, First Aid, CPI and other required trainings as necessary.
  6. Capable of effective oral and written communication
  7. Capable of reading and comprehending policies and instruction, and use varying degrees of independent judgment and discretion.
  8. Ability to respond to appropriately to emergency situations.

Essential Physical Demands:

Must be able to lift up to 50lbs independently. Physical demands are in excess of sedentary work as position frequently requires walking, standing, reaching, fingering, stooping, bending, pushing and pulling. Ability to carry out CPI techniques and holds.

Work Environment:

Ability to work in various environments which may include different home settings as well as community settings both indoors and outdoors during all seasons.
