Employment Specialist / Job Developer

Looking Upwards Day Services is seeking to hire an Employment Specialist experienced in providing employment support for individuals with disabilities.  Please submit your cover letter and resume to dsilva@lookingupwards.org    Position is open until filled

The following qualifications are necessary:

  • Have a degree in vocational rehab, psychology, social work or related human service area
  • At least 3 years experiences working with individuals seeking employment. 
  • Must have a proven record of job procurement and job retention.
  • Must have experience completing vocational evaluations, situational assessments etc.
  • Experience taking part in the ISP process
  • Ability to utilize various methods to develop employment possibilities
  • Ability to build a network of business partners ensuring exceptional communication and service
  • Understands the responsibilities and requirements of a job that are matching the individual and the employer to
  • Support the completion of quarterly DD surveys
  • Must have proven skills in managing a caseload with a focus on ensuring that each person’s employment needs are met
  • Must demonstrate excellent family centered practices
  • Past leadership/supervisory experience preferred
  • Must have strong organization skills
  • Is solution oriented with strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience and proficiency in designing, implementing and overseeing employment plans
  • Critical thinking skills, creativity and innovation a must
  • Professional and proficient writing and computer skills
  • Is energetic, can work autonomously and is self-directed
  • Ability to effectively facilitate meetings
  • Ability to be an effective trainer
  • Ability to network at Chamber of Commerce business events
  • Must be flexible and available to work the varied hours to meet the needs of the program including nights and weekends
  • Positive recommendation of current supervisor or employer
