Day Services Manager

Looking Upwards day services provides individuals with rich, community-based learning experiences to increase social, and employment engagement. Program areas include meaningful employment, community membership, the arts, cultivating friendships and relationships, life-long learning and overall safety and wellness.

Looking Upwards is a Middletown, RI based non-profit organization.   We are seeking an experienced Day Services Manager who will play a key role in providing innovative and individualized person centered programming and practices for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities living primarily in Rhode Island’s east bay area. 

The Day Services Manager is responsible for the day to day operations, overall program quality and ensures financial and programmatic objectives are met. The role oversees curriculum development, supervises staff with varied roles and varied levels of direct care experience, works within a strong interdisciplinary team, and builds community relationships to facilitate expanded opportunities for program participants.

Our ideal candidate has prior experience managing staff and strong leadership skills, a passion for high quality delivery of service, and strong analytical skills, proven track record of creativity, flexibility, attention to detail and ability to work independently. A coaching leadership style is vital; we seek a polished communicator who motivates and inspires team members and participants. A keen interest in driving process improvements in a highly collaborative environment is helpful.

Basic Qualifications

  • AA/AS or BA/BS in a human services related field preferred
  • Minimum three (3) years of experience with program and staff supervision
  • Ability to oversee developmentally appropriate curriculum and provide engaging instruction to participants with various developmental levels, skill sets, and behaviors
  • Demonstrated ability to manage financial outcomes and an ability to manage program budget, monthly reporting, and summarize outcomes
  • Knowledge of standard computer systems including Outlook, Excel and Word and billing
  • Experience working with adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities
