Wildwood Nursery & Garden Center, a retail and re-wholesale garden center, is currently seeking potential candidates for a Garden Center Sales Associate for Seasonal Full or Part Time positions. Position A:  GARDEN CENTER SALES ASSOCIATE

• Starting Hourly Base Rate:  $10.00 - $14.00 / hour (dependent on qualifications and experience)

                Job Description

We are searching for a hard working, motivated individual who shares a love of plants and horticulture. Candidate is expected to be able to provide informative, helpful and friendly customer service. Candidate should be willing and able to work in an outdoor environment.  Candidate should project a warm and inviting personality with knowledge of plants, garden products and services.  Previous retail and nursery experience is desired.  Some weekends and holidays will be required.

Responsibilities

• Answering customer plant and plant care questions
• Assisting customers with garden and landscape design suggestions
• Watering and fertilizing plants
• Cashiering
• Assisting customers with loading product into vehicles
• Creating product displays
• Assisting with plant pricing and tagging
• Weeding
• Pruning
• Potting up containers
• Maintaining a clean and organized garden center
• Ability to work well with customers and fellow staff members
• Performing other duties as assigned

 

Specific Educational Requirements

• Basic knowledge of computer use or willingness to learn

• A minimum of a high school education or high school equivalency diploma is preferred

 

Physical Requirements

• Lift or move up to 50 or more pounds
• Stand and walk for 75% or more of work day
• Kneeling, squatting, bending, carrying, pushing and lifting frequently
• Moving product on and off of ground, benches, equipment and vehicles
• Use hand tools such as trowels, rakes and hoes
• Operating a golf cart or equivalent
• Use of a hand cart
• This position requires that the employee is able to read, write, speak and understand the English language.  Ability to speak the Spanish language is a plus.
• Ability to work outside in inclement weather, including heat, humidity, cold, rain and/or snow.
