Application Engineer

TITLE: Application Engineer

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Reporting to the Director, Customer Services, the Application Engineer will provide direct, pre and post sale technical support and consultation to VoltServer customers and partners.

The position is located in East Greenwich Rhode Island and candidates must be commutable to the HQ location.

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITY:

In a pre-sales mode, the Application Engineer will utilize technical knowledge to prepare quotation packages based on the product content and customer design input, and perform Bill of Material preparation for projects.

Candidate must possess the ability to interpret customer requirements, match products to customer specifications/drawings and ensures that the quote is technically compatible and competitive by communicating with appropriate customer personnel to determine/clarify project requirements.

In a post sales mode, the Applications Engineer will interact with customers remotely to assist with installations and troubleshoot VoltServer products and solutions while being responsible for ensuring a high level of customer satisfaction.  

The successful candidate will be:

  • An accomplished self-starter; who understands power systems and technologies, as well as knowledgeable of mobile/data network markets and technologies, systems architecture and associated business values.
  • Must be capable of managing technical solution development and complex integration processes; have proven ability to work in a matrix environment and possess excellent communication, presentation and organization skills.
  • Balanced professional, technical and business acumen to ensure proper overall team focus and best use of corporate resources.
  • Entrepreneurial in sprit, and willing to work in a fast paced startup environment.
  • Amenable to Regional and International travel as needed.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Cooperate with Customers & Partners to review opportunities and develop VoltServer solutions to meet their requirements.
  • Provide remote support to customers & partners to resolve issues identified in VoltServer deployments
  • Use Configuration and Quotation tools to provide Sales and Account Management with timely, detailed & accurate proposal materials
  • Deliver training to customer & partner technical teams 

SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelors or Associates Degree in Engineering.
  • Experience in client-facing Customer Success, System Engineering / Support or related roles.
  • Knowledge of Electrical Power Distribution required.
  • Knowledge of Communications technologies and/or Telecom Operators methods and procedures advantageous.
  • Strong customer sense, with experience serving as a trusted, strategic consultant or advisor to complex clients in order to assist in critical business decision processes.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills to express complex and analytical concepts with clarity to a variety of audiences.
