MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN

The maintenance technician is responsible for performing highly diversified duties to install, troubleshoot, repair and maintain production and facility equipment according to safety, predictive and productive maintenance systems and processes.

 

Essential Functions:

 

Performs general maintenance and preventative maintenance and equipment calibrations and surveys on production and production support equipment in the facility. Inspects machinery and mechanical equipment for defects.  Dismantles machines and equipment to get to and repair defective parts.  Cleans and lubricates shafts, bearings, gears, pulleys, and other parts of machines.  Measures, cuts and installs pipe and tubing for gas, water and hydraulic lines, using ratchet, cutting die and threading die. Repairs and replaces control instruments, gauges, valves, pressure regulators and other plumbing equipment.  Opens clogged drains using plunger and plumbing tools.  Installs electrical equipment and repairs or replaces wiring and fixtures.  Makes and repairs counters, benches, partitions and other structures.  Paints walls, floors, woodwork and fixtures.  Replaces and repairs brick and/or plaster walls.

                

 Assists Quality personnel in the periodic calibration of all production and support equipment.

 

Issues requisitions for maintenance related supplies, and assists in maintaining inventory of maintenance materials and production supplies as requested.

 

May handle hazardous waste.

 

This position may perform Furnace Operator functions when required. This includes processing work in strict accordance of the Work Order and Quality Procedures and Standards including following proper processing sequences, setting the appropriate furnace programs or time and temperature settings; operating and tending furnaces during processing, monitoring controls and gauges to ensure proper operation of equipment; and documenting completely all processes completed within the Work Order.

 

Secondary Functions:

 

Receives managerial direction from the Maintenance Supervisor, General Manager or Quality Manager.

Performs all work in a safe manner, to include proper use of personal protective equipment.

Maintains an accurate record of all work performed in the appropriate company format such as maintenance logs and complete documentation within the work orders when performing Furnace Operator functions. 

Maintains work area and tools & equipment in a neat, clean and orderly manner.

Performs related responsibilities such as packing and set up as schedule permits.

Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

 

Education/Experience:

Associates degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or six months to one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

Language Ability:

Ability to read and interpret documents in English such as work orders, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals and safety rules. Ability to write and document work performed as well as inter-company communication.  Ability to speak effectively before customers or employees of organization.

 

Math Ability:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

 

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to solve problems.

 

Computer Skills:

Ability to use Microsoft Office, business software, and data acquisition system

 

Certificates and Licenses:

Electrical and/or plumbing licenses, and participation in vocational, apprentice, or on the job training preferred.
