Advanced Practitioner – Neonatology

Connecticut Children's is seeking Advanced Practitioners to provide care to neonates in our busy family-centered NICUs and nurseries located in Hartford (Level IV), and throughout our Hartford Healthcare partner hospitals including the Hospital of Central Connecticut (level III), Midstate Medical Center (Level I), Windham Hospital (Level I) and Backus Hospital (Level I).  In this role, you would be a key member of an inpatient medical team within our integrated academic model, caring for term and pre-term newborns in both the NICU and normal newborn nursery environments during the neonatal period.

Responsibilities:

  • Treat and evaluate patients with neonatal illnesses, prematurity and congenital anomalies and promote the health of the child and family.
  • Provide daily clinical care in the NICU/nurseries/Labor and Delivery in conjunction with the neonatologist
  • Analyze medical histories, diagnostic lab tests and x-ray results and perform physical examinations.
  • Perform and maintain competency in required procedures with supervision, including umbilical vessel catheterization, endotracheal intubation, thoracostomy tube placement, neonatal resuscitation, lumbar puncture, percutaneous inserted central catheter placement and circumcision as necessary for individual sites

Coordinate patient care with team members, other departments, community agencies and providers as necessary

  • Practice preventive health care through patient and family education and child health advocacy.

We seek candidates with at least two years of experience in a Level III-IV NICU, but will consider new graduates on an individual basis. Bilingual in English and Spanish a plus.  We will consider PAs, NNPs and APRNs with an interest in neonatal care.
