Residential Coordinator

Job Description

Turning the Corner Residential Treatment program is seeking a full-time Residential Counselor is needed at our trauma-informed evidence based facility in Providence. Experience with adolescent males ages 12-21, or desire to work with youth who have diverse backgrounds, DCYF or probation involved. Ability to work as member of team. Spanish speaking a plus. Residential Counselors spend the most time with youth in the programs. Residential Counselors see many client behaviors, triggers, coping mechanisms, and adaptive skills. Residential Counselors must be able to communicate these needs to the various members of the administrative team, especially the program clinician. A Residential Counselor’s job scope includes, but are not limited to the following:

·         To participate in and help facilitate monthly fire drills

·         To participate in and help facilitate daily room checks

·         Provide daily basic care for/with the residents; meal preparation, assisting with routines (preparation for school, homework, appointments, meetings, chores, laundry, passes, etc.), and assist in keeping the facility tidy

·         Follow the behavior management program while understanding how the program is designed to assist the residents

·         Provide compassion and emotional support to residents through active listening.

·         Possess the ability to advocate for clients and communicate their needs to the rest of the administrative team

·         Maintain the daily logs, behavior management program checklists, incident reports, medication sheets, and additional paperwork.

·         Residential Counselors must be a good role model in all instances.
