Director of Human Resources (DIRECT HIRE)

JOB PURPOSE

Responsible for HR and risk functions of the organization in accordance with the policies and practices of the company, and the laws, regulations and administrative rulings of governmental organizations and other regulatory and advisory authorities. Also responsible for strategic HR planning maintaining awareness of policies, practices and trends within the industry. Risk functional areas include but are not limited to 401K, insurance, all legal matters, security and safety.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND REGULATIONS

Human Resources:

 

  • Plans, develops, implements, directs and evaluates the organization's HR function and performance.
  • Develops staffing strategies and implementation plans and programs to identify talent within and outside the organization. Identifies appropriate and effective external sources for candidates for all levels within the organization.
  • Develops HR training models to maintain competency, knowledge and compliance including training and development programs for employees.
  • Manages talent through succession planning for key contributor and management positions.
  • Develops programs to allow the organization to embrace applicants and employees of all backgrounds and to permit the full development and performance of all employees.
  • Continually assesses the competitiveness of all programs and practices against the relevant comparable companies, industries and markets.
  • Enhances and/or develops implements and enforces HR policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of relevant international corporate HR policies/programs/laws/issues. Coordinates integration of all programs if needed.
  • Manages other areas such as relocation, employee communication, employee safety, health, security, and community relations.
  • Manages the budget and other financial measures of the HR/Risk department.
  • Provides technical advice and knowledge to others within the human resource discipline.
  • Develops/maintains compensation and benefits budget.
  • Manages performance evaluation program and revises as necessary.
  • Writes/revises/updates job descriptions as necessary.
  • Sets guidelines for recruitment and new-employee orientations program.
  • Oversees the development and maintenance of affirmative action program and EEO requirements.
  • Conduct employee relations counseling, management coaching, and exit interviewing. Ensures the Employee Handbook meets business needs and legal requirements. Coordinates and/or leads internal investigations.

 

 

Benefits:

401K plan administrator and fiduciary

  • Researches, analyzes, documents, and provides fund performance and data to CEO. In coordination with CEO and COO and Controller, chooses funds to improve/enhance plan performance.
  • Secures fidelity bond; responsible for the administration of the plan.
  • Acts as primary contact for all retirement plan service providers. 
  • Prepares 5500’s for retirement plans and financial schedules, and related financial analysis. Assists with tax and audit functions.
  • Complies with ERISA's reporting and disclosure requirements; maintains plan records.

 

Safety and Security

  • Ensures safety standards for the company are met and procedures are in place.
  • Manage annual external Safety Audits and implement required changes and upgrades.
  • Maintains facility security requirements and implements procedures to maintain compliance.
  • Initiates specific trainings such as sexual harassment trainings, active shooter response training, etc.

 

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Establishes and maintains department records and reports.
  • Cooperates with Corporate as needed.
  • May be required to perform other duties as assigned. 

 

EDUCATION:

  1. Bachelor's degree from four-year accredited college or university; and 10 to 15 years related experience in Human Resources and/or the Legal industry.  Master’s degree preferred.
  2. Ten to 15 years working in HR, and/or the legal industry; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  3. Computer software proficiency to include SAP, SharePoint, ADP, HRIS, Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Adobe Professional; and internet research.  Proven ability to gather and analyze data, draw logical conclusions, and make appropriate recommendations.
  4. Advanced knowledge of employment laws, both Federal and State.
  5. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  6. Effective presentation skills. Proven problem-solving ability.
  7. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously. 
  8. Time management/organizational/multi-tasking skills.
  9. Ability to maintain a positive and upbeat Company image.

Demonstrated ability to handle highly confidential information securely. Established ability to work collaboratively across all levels and functions of an organization to coordinate solutions. Demonstrated ability processing payroll. Advanced experience with HRIS.
