JOB SUMMARY:

 

We are looking for leaders responsible for planning, controlling and coordinating the entire range of manufacturing activities within a given product line or Value Stream including Safety, Quality, Delivery, Inventory, Cost, Growth and Productivity. Additionally, responsible for coordinating with outside agencies to ensure integrated supply chain activities are occurring across the enterprise.   The position reports directly to the Plant Manager.

 

Value added leadership responsibilities include:

 

• Leading the team to achieve operational excellence through the use of the Steel Business System within the Value Stream including 5S, Process Mapping, Flow Methods (Pull, Kanban), SMED, Standard Work and Visual Management, and external to the value stream.
• Provide leadership in the oversight, and execution of daily production ensuring delivery dates, quality and pricing validation.
• Provide thought leadership in the areas of problem solving including root cause analysis and corrective action, integrating with outside agencies. Partner with the Plant Manager in developing budgets, updating forecasts and managing the P&L of their specific Value Stream.
• Provide critical leadership to Drive quality initiatives into the process reducing the need for post-production inspection, through both direct and indirect influencing skills.
• Provide leadership to set and manage inventory levels, kan ban signals, slow moving and obsolete materials within the VS, and coordinate with outside agencies where appropriate.
• Provide leadership in day to day employee relations activity including hiring, training, developing and ensuring empowered workers are contributing to the overall success of the business.
• Being a balanced leader who supports all environmental health and safety activity including OSHA compliance, QMS and Green Tier initiatives, and establishing funding to complete programs through the safety pyramid.
• Be 24x7 leader who Coordinates and oversees off shift activity with shift leadership and maintains a flexible schedule to lead across shifts. Leading a cross functional team of exempt, non-exempt, and hour team members.

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

 

• A leader of people who knows how to manage resources.
• A leader who can manage agencies outside of his direct team.
• Ability to communicate ideas and outcomes via. electronic media. Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)

 

• Ability to verbally communicate with all levels and functions of the organization.
• Skilled leader in utilizing, teaching, and ensuring the use of Root Cause and Corrective action problem solving skill, Green Belt preferred.
• Ability to provide case studies or examples of strong leadership and management skills as a leader of a team challenged to lead operational and cultural change within an organization.
• Experienced leadership in handling diverse situations when working with employees, and has made the tough call.
• Previous leadership experience.
• Preferred background in metals, either ferrous or non-ferrous.
• Preferred background in a fabrication shop and be familiar with stamping, forgings high speed passes or ring making. 

 

 

 

 

EDUCATION

 

• A college degree in business, engineering or leadership.
• Significant experience in leading people.
• Certifications in Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma or other similar discipline should be noted
