REPAIR TECHNICIAN
JOB PURPOSE

Repairs defects of optic products, such as riflescopes, telescopes, or binoculars, to meet warranty standards and maintain customer satisfaction.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND REGULATIONS
|
- Reads service orders and examines product to determine from experience and through reading blueprints, nature of defect or cause of malfunction, and possibility of repair.
- Disassembles product, using screwdrivers, hammers, chisels, punches, and files.
- Operates power tools, such as drill press and power press, to remove screws, pins, and rivets.
- Replaces or repairs defective parts, using screwdrivers, torque drivers, files and other hand tools.
- Verifies dimensions, straightness, and concentricity of parts, using gauges.
- Reassembles tool, using hand and power equipment.
- Tests operation of product using computer-based equipment to detect loose and binding parts and to determine synchronization of related parts.
- Tests function of assembled units, using precision mechanical, electrical, optical, and measuring instruments and adjusts mechanisms to attain specified functional performance.
- Records nature and extent of repairs performed.
- Maintains list and stock of parts used in repair.
- Cleans parts and products through each stage of the repair process.
- Communicates part defects and assembly difficulties to Repair Manager for recording and evaluation.
- Performs routine cleaning and maintenance of repair/assembly equipment.
- May be assigned to different workstations as repair needs require.
- Maintains cleanliness and organization at workstation.
