Application Technology Support Specialist

Position Title Application Technology Support Specialist
Overview
Perform research, testing, evaluation, and provide the highest level of support for applications, computers, and endpoint devices in computer labs, faculty/staff offices, and common spaces.

Essential Duties:
Provide support for programs and projects which require a higher level of expertise than routine projects handled by existing IT support groups. Work closely with other IT and interdepartmental personnel to provide advanced technical support for issues which require more complex and time consuming evaluation, testing, and research.

2. Evaluate, recommend solutions for, and deploy campus software packages in faculty/staff offices. Develop a process for configuration and deployment of campus endpoint devices and evaluate existing processes and consider alternatives.

3. Assist with the creation and deployment of lab and classroom software configurations. Assist with the development of processes for the creation/deployment of lab and classroom computers across campus. Evaluate existing processes and consider alternatives.

4. Assist with IT projects requiring the use of non-standard applications. Work with vendors and internal support staff to complete installations in a timely and efficient manner. Assist with the configuration and deployment of new and non-traditional IT and multi-media devices across campus such as tablets, Apple TV's, and Solstice pods.

5. Provide support for standard desktop and applications software. Assist end users with advanced troubleshooting of software packages including but not limited to office suites, graphics suites, advanced statistical applications, and operating systems.

6. Create training materials to be used to train support personnel and end users for supported software packages. Assist existing training staff in the creation and execution of training classes.

Marginal Duties:
1. Perform all other duties as may be required.

Education and Experience Required
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent from an accredited institution required.
• Three years' experience in a desktop management position, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Higher education experience preferred.
• Experience and knowledge of scripting and automation of processes (eg PowerShell, Shellscript).
• Experience with an endpoint management platform (eg KACE or SCCM ).

• Finger dexterity required to manipulate objects with fingers rather than with whole hand(s) or arm(s), for example, using a keyboard
