Position Title Dean of Global Education
Overview
Provide leadership in articulating and implementing the College's vision for global education and in maintaining and strengthening the College's wide array of international initiatives.

Essential Duties:
1. Collaborate with senior administration in supporting the international and student engagement goals of the College's Strategic Plan. Direct the development and administration of education abroad policies and procedures, and advise the President's Senior Cabinet on issues related to international education. Serve as a clearinghouse and resource and provide guidance for all College-sponsored international travel, and promote and guide College constituents on fellowships and other professional development opportunities related to global education. Collaborate with Center for Teaching Excellence ( CTE ) and Center for Engaged Learning ( CEL ) to further global learning initiatives across campus. Partner with Mission & Ministry on planning for international service immersion trips and establish appropriate connections between Mission & Ministry and the PC-in-Rome study abroad program. Serve as an ambassador and resource in the recruitment for international Dominican Friars, and provide assistance and resource support in planning pilgrimages. Champion the benefits of study abroad and other international immersion experiences and lead and partner on initiatives that help students leverage and enhance their PC education. Provide support and guidance for service learning abroad immersion experiences. Collaborate with appropriate offices on crisis planning and management for people engaged in global education initiatives. Monitor and communicate potential international crises and conflicts that may affect the safety and security of travelers.

2. Guide and support academic departments and faculty in the development and oversight of study abroad options that integrate with the College liberal arts curriculum. Provide departments and faculty with appropriate faculty development opportunities to lead and administer educational programs abroad.

3. Administer and provide leadership for the Center for Global Education and its operations in support of students studying abroad. Direct and develop comprehensive supports and services for students at various stages of study abroad. Oversee the development and maintenance of the Center's web site and associated publications. Ensure the Center's participation in College-sponsored events and programs. Manage budgets, including the Center's regular operating budget and the PC-in-Rome-budget. Direct and oversee the College's administration of the home-school tuition model. Work with Institutional Advancement to identify external funding opportunities.

4. Lead the Center for Global Education in promoting and supporting good practices and norms of the education abroad profession, both on-campus and with the external community.

Marginal Duties:
1. Perform all other duties as may be required.

Education and Experience Required
• Master's degree or other advanced or professional degree in a relevant field from an accredited institution
• Eight to ten years' of progressively responsible work and leadership experience in international education or an equivalent combination of education and experience
• Staff supervisory experience
• Budget administrative experience
• Knowledge of US Visa policies and procedures for international students and visiting scholars
• Membership in NAFSA , the Forum on Education Abroad and other relevant professional international associations
• Must hold U.S. citizenship or permanent resident status to meet federal regulatory requirements for profession practice as DSO for SEVP
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with faculty and administration in developing and implementing a strategic vision for international programs and initiatives
• Experience in directing an education abroad program office
• Extensive knowledge of third-party program providers as to the academic quality and suitability for education abroad for the College and students
• Experience in administering short-term faculty-led programs abroad and in managing overseas study centers
• Demonstrated awareness of, and sensitivity and commitment to, diversity and inclusivity and to serving the needs of a culturally and educationally diverse and inclusive community; evidence of success in supporting student from underrepresented groups, including students from historically underrepresented racial and ethnic groups, first-generation-to-college students, and low-income students.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE :

• Experience administering home-school tuition model desired.
• Experience in conducting formal international program site evaluation reviews desired.
• Certification as an Education Abroad • Professional by the Form on Education Abroad desirable.
• Experience using Symplicity Horizon or other online study abroad management system preferred
• Knowledge of the Banner student information system desirable
• Fluency in at least one language other than English preferred.
