Assistant Director of Financial Aid

Position Title Assistant Director of Financial Aid
Overview
Assist in the administration of multi-faceted federal and institutional financial aid programs. Determine financial need and awards while simultaneously counseling parents and students on aid programs consisting of grants, loans, and work study funds.

Essential Duties:
1. Determine applicant and continuing student financial need for all populations including undergraduate, SCE and graduate students using both a federal and institutional methodology; complete federally required verification, authorize disbursement of aid packages; counsel and advise students and parents regarding aid and financing programs. Review appeals for additional aid; collaborate on cases handled by colleagues; contribute to the review of office policies.

2. Serve as the coordinator for the Federal Pell Grant program. This includes utilizing the Banner and the Common Origination and Disbursement ( COD ) system to manage over 3.2 million dollars; work closely with the Bursar's Office and Controller to stay balanced and ensure draw downs are accurate.

3. Responsible for scholarship matching for the direct grants and the endowed scholarship program. Work closely with Institutional Advancement and Financial Services on all matters related to current and/or potential funds. Utilize the Banner system to generate reports and data upon request and assist with the thank you note project.

4. Serve as the primary coordinator for Satisfactory Academic Progress ( SAP ). This includes utilizing the Banner system to obtain academic standing information, notifying students in jeopardy and chairing the appeal committee in a way that supports all three populations of students we serve.

5. Serve as the multicultural scholarship program liaison to the Admission and Dean's Office. The position will serve on a scholarship committee and support presentations at a variety of on campus events. Utilize Banner to produce reports and data upon request for scholarships and book awards.

6. Monitor leaves of absence, official and unofficial withdrawals for all three populations, and perform R2T4's per federal & institutional guidelines. Monitor grade changes and course registrations (i.e. blue sheets).

Marginal Duties:
Perform all other duties as may be required.

Education and Experience Required
• Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution required
• Three to five years' experience with needs analysis (federal and/or institutional methodology)
• Excellent quantitative and analytical skills
• Good organizational skills
• Attentiveness to detail required
• Strong interpersonal, written, and public speaking skills
• Experience utilizing computing systems as well as skills with various applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

• Sitting in a normal seated position for extended periods of time
• Reaching by extending hand(s) or arm(s) in any direction
• Finger dexterity required to manipulate objects with fingers rather than with whole hand(s) or arm(s), for example, using a keyboard
