Maintenance Technician I

TITLE: Maintenance Technician I

REPORT TO: Maintenance Supervisor

LOCATION: North Kingstown, RI SHIFT: 2nd and 3rd

$17-28 per hr

JOB SUMMARY

Highly motivated and dependable, self-starter individual able to use deductive reasoning and root-cause analysis to approach and efficiently solve problems in a timely manner Must be able to complete all tasks as encountered or assigned, utilizing professional and effective long term solutions, and do so in a fast paced environment. Must be able to execute all tasks on a timely basis Must document personal work performance and metrics pertaining to preventive maintenance and assigned tasks. Successful candidate needs to demonstrate eagerness and ability to learn all systems and equipment to an expert level while providing a flexible schedule. Excited to learn and work with robotics systems and enjoy the challenge of working with a team focused on Continuous Improvement.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for preventive maintenance of production process systems and equipment. Typically includes electrical controls, pumps, motors, compressors, pneumatics and hydraulic systems.
  • Diagnose and repair manufacturing equipment using available software or instruments.
  • Keep multiple processing lines running at full capacity with minimum down time.
  • Carry out and document assigned Preventative Maintenance tasks, as assigned thru the use of CMMS system and Microsoft Outlook.
  • Document completed tasks into CMMS and communicate to necessary parties.
  • Provide input to maintenance team on condition of equipment and recommend service needs and schedules.
  • Manage spare parts/tools inventory using a maintenance management system.
  • Maintain all work areas and equipment in a neat, clean and organized manner under 5s standards.
  • Display compliance with safety, quality and production procedures following all GMP and SOP.
  • Assist production team in operations capacity as necessary, including shift coverage upon request.
  • Flexible to work different shifts and overtime as business needs dictate.
  • Provide technical support "on call" as needed— either in person or via telephone.
  • Providing overtime upon demand.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Required:
  • Associates degree or equal relative technical experience mandatory
  • Familiar with manufacturing equipment involving PLC/Controls, HMI, machine logic, process control loops, and troubleshooting of pumps, motors, etc.
  • Must be able to professionally and appropriately interact with other departments internally, other company associates and outside vendors.
  • Knowledge and demonstrated experience with safety procedures and OSHA safety requirements such as Lockout/Tagout, confined space, and motorized handling equipment and powered lifts
  • Familiar or experienced primarily with Allen-Bradley and Siemens, Telemecanique, and Crouzet. PLC base control systems. VFD (Allen-Bradley power flex series, Telemecanique, etc.), Servo technology,(Allen-Bradley and SEW), ultrasonic sensors, guided radar sensors, contrast optic sensors, etc.
  • Familiar with heating loop and heating loop controls, PI, PID controls and boilers systems.
  • Good communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with his/her technical team
  • Understanding of and practical experience in Predictive Maintenance programs
  • Preferred:
  • Experience in a food production or pharmaceutical manufacturing FDA regulated facility
  • Experience in liquid fill processing and form fill seal packaging
  • Understanding and experience operating in GMT environment
  • Forklift certified
  • Experience servicing around HVAC, compressed air systems and nitrogen generator membrane systems
  • OSHA Lockout/Tag Out certified
  • WORK ENVIRONMENT

    • Light industrial food manufacturing — Peanut processing facility
    • Moderate / fast pace — schedule heavily dependent on machine up-time and performance
