School Business Manager

Monsignor Matthew F. Clarke Catholic Regional School

Msgr. Matthew F. Clarke School, a toddler to 8th grade school in Wakefield, RI, seeks a School Business Manager.  This is a 12 month, part time contract position. The School Business Manager is responsible for overseeing the school’s business and financial operations, including oversight of the school’s bookkeeping, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, financial assistance, bond compliance, and organizational and programmatic budget and financial reports.  The School Business Manager works closely with the principal and the Catholic School Office to ensure that the school's budget and resources are used in the most efficient way.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage financial operational systems and processes in support of the school’s educational mission
  • Monitor and regulate internal controls
  • Meet regularly with the Principal for review of the school’s budgets and finances
  • Develop and manage annual budget in coordination with the Principal, program offices, the school advisory board, especially the board finance committee, and the Catholic School Office
  • Prepare month-end, quarterly, and year-end financial reports, submitting to stakeholders in a timely way.
  • Prepare budget vs. actual financial reports
  • Organize financial documents and prepare for annual audit
  • Facilitate new employee information and payroll onboarding
  • Provide oversight for all bookkeeping functions at the school
  • Oversee bi-weekly payroll information for check processing
  • Check and verify deposits
  • Handle distribution of financial assistance

  • Oversee purchasing operations at the school

  • Review contracts with outside vendors

Qualifications

  • Commitment to a mission-driven organizational team
  • Success supervising support staff and relating constructively with colleagues and leadership
  • A welcoming personality with an affinity for learning while leading
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
  • A bachelor’s degree
  • At least 3 years’ experience in Business Management, Finance or Accounting
  • Adherence to highly professional ethical standards
  • Experience with budget development and oversight
  • Knowledge of school operations and finance preferred
  • Excellent computer skills with proficiency in QuickBooks and Microsoft Office Suite
