Summer Camp Counselors

Summer Camp Counselor Providence Campus

General Description:

The camp counselor must be a warm, sensitive, and mature individual who is able to relate well to both children and adults and is willing to fulfill responsibilities in accordance with the summer camps educational and developmentally appropriate philosophy.

Responsibilities:

The camp counselor is responsible for the general supervision and management of their child care group.  This person reports directly to the Youth Enrichment Program Coordinator.

Essential Duties:

  • Plans, supervises, and implements the daily program for assigned group under the direction of the Camp Director.
  • Maintains the ordered arrangement, appearance, and learning environment of their assigned space.
  • Assists in the ongoing evaluation procedures needed to assess the developmental levels of the children.
  • Helps to gear the program to meet the individual children’s needs with concern for their interests, challenges, special talents and individual style.
  • Treats children with dignity and respect.
  • Provides a positive role model for children to learn, maintain a professional attitude.
  • Follow all requirements set by the Child Care Regulations, the Youth Enrichment Program Coordinator, and the YWCA.

Non-Essential Duties:

  • Address parental concerns when the Coordinator is not available, and bring those concerns to the Coordinator as soon as possible.
  • Attends scheduled staff and supervision meetings.
  • Participates in recommended training programs.
  • Perform miscellaneous job related duties as assigned by coordinator.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Be creative, good listener, energetic, fast learner and motivated.
  • Must be eighteen years old.
  • 21+ with chauffeur’s license preferred
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Attend First Aide Training.
  • Experience working with children ages 5-12 preferred but not required.

Position is located at our at our Olneyville section of Providence.  We are looking for full-time summer staff for camp beginning June 22, 2015 through August 28, 2015.  The schedule would be up to 40 hours per week, Monday – Friday, between the hours of 6:30 am & 6:00 pm.  Pay rate is $9.25 per hours. 

Must pass a criminal background check!
