Specialized Para-Professional For Transition Age

Program Goals:
To assist the participant/client with job skills and team building with co-workers and employers.
Assist individuals with gaining functional life skills
Assist individuals with gaining skills for employment
Assess individuals needs
Assist individuals to be successful if behaviors occur
Assist individuals with community access

Position Status:
Part-time about 30 hours weekly. The Specialized para-professional position is assigned over a period of time that is dependent on the work schedule and needs of the participant/client.

Work Schedule:
Core hours will vary based on a routing schedule and flexibility in schedule is a must in order to accommodate job site requirements, training needs and completion of reports. A typical daily schedule would take place roughly from 8:00am-2:00pm in the Aquidneck Island/East Bay area.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Arrive on time at the specified job site.
2. Dress appropriately or as required by the jobsite.
3. Assist the participant/client in performing the work responsibilities in such a way that fosters independence.
4. Continually assess the vocational, social, communication and independent skills required by the specific job setting.
5. Perform task analysis of each task as needed and provide guidance to participant/client.
6. Identify job site modifications as needed. Recommendations are to be discussed with the Employment Specialist first.
7. Comply with the policies and procedures of the job sites.
8. Report to the Supported Employment Specialist any needs, problems or concerns.
9. Provide a summary of each shift worked with the participant/client to the Supported Employment Specialist
10. On a regular basis, report to the Supported Employment Specialist.

Requirements:
Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities is preferred.
Must have a valid driver’s license, a good driving record, and proof of current auto insurance.

A background check will be performed.

Bachelor’s degree preferred.
