Job Description:
Under the direction of the Director of Athletic, Intramurals and Recreation, the Head Coach, Men's Soccer/Spring Sports Event Manager is responsible for all aspects of the development and administration of a successful NCAA Division III Intercollegiate Men's Sport Program. The program will be conducted in accordance with all University and National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) rules, regulations, and policies.

Essential functions for this position include but are not limited to:

1. Coaching/Teaching Duties:

  • Teach and develop sport-specific skills in a successful, safe, and prudent manner;
  • Create, present, and maintain records of up-to-date lesson plans for pre-season/season practice drills and procedures detailing the desired goals to be achieved;
  • Schedule practice and game preparation sessions; conduct post game analysis and incorporate into lesson plans.

2. Administrative Duties:

  • Conduct an ongoing recruitment program through a variety of methods, both on and off the court with the goal to attract, select and encourage enrollment of high caliber student-athletes;
  • Initiate new ideas and methods to improve the program in support of the University goal of a successful conference and attainment of a regional level NCAA ranking;
  • Serve as liaison and assist with developing and operating programs and classes for students, faculty and staff and the local community;
  • Serve as the event manager for spring sports home events including scheduling staff, managing outside resources, arranging for equipment, and event setup/breakdown.

In addition, this position will fundraise for the sport program, when required, as well as support Athletics' fundraising efforts.  It is expected that this position will uphold NCAA, ECAC, and other conference affiliation rules and regulations.

Requirements:
A Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year collegiate institution; preferably in a sports-related discipline, is required as well as 2 to 4 years of experience coaching in Soccer including coordination and instruction experience. Candidates must have successful experience in recruiting talented players for the sports program. Knowledge of the rules and regulations of the NCAA and ECAC, and other conference affiliations including eligibility, recruiting, and fundraising is required.  To be successful in this position, candidates must have the ability to function in a service and team oriented environment, display strong attention to detail, work under pressure, meet deadlines, and prioritize multiple projects. Excellent interpersonal skills is a must as well as a proven ability to advise and motivate student athletes. Must be able to travel, have a valid driver's license, and have the ability to work nights, weekends, and some holidays.

At the University's discretion, the education and experience prerequisites may be excepted where the candidate can demonstrate, to the satisfaction of the University, an equivalent combination of education and experience specifically preparing the candidate for success in the position.
