Communications Associate

Scope and General Purpose:

 

Participates in executing the strategic profile of the Ocean House, Watch Hill Inn and Weekapaug Inn brands.  Responsible for creating a guest-centric approach to all sales and marketing efforts, with a constant goal of enhancing the guest experience and increasing guest satisfaction, retention and loyalty through public relations and communications.

 

Basic Function:

 

The Communications Associate is responsible for supporting the Communications Director and Communications Manager in efforts to support all three properties through email marketing, written materials such as quarterly newsletters, website maintenance and more.

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Participates in all of the resort and inn’s marketing, communications and materials including websites, in-room technology, electronic communications, printed publications and printed collateral.
  • Social Media – Work with Communications Manager to expand and strengthen digital presence for Ocean House, Weekapaug Inn and Watch Hill Inn. Engage social communities with personal conversations.
  • Email Marketing  –  Work with Communications Manager and Graphic Designer to create regularly scheduled email blasts for Ocean House and Weekapaug Inn. Experience and comfort using Adobe Suite and PhotoShop a plus.
  • Website Support – Work with Communications Manager to provide daily and weekly website maintenance. Tasks include uploading menus and press clippings as well as creating regular blog entries.
  • Blogging – Manage consistent posts on Ocean House and Weekapaug Inn websites.
  • Editorial Support – Draft written collateral including newsletters, web content, brochures and other printed materials.
  • Warehouse Support – contribute to upkeep of warehouse and mechanical room; support monthly inventory efforts at both locations.
  • Ensure articulation of resort and inn’s desired image and position, assure consistent communication of image and position throughout the company, and assure communication of image and position to all constituencies, both internal and external.
  • Participates in the editorial direction, design, production and distribution of all of the resort and inn’s publications.
  • Special Projects as needed.

 

 

Qualifications:

 

A Bachelors degree in communications, journalism, marketing, public relations preferred.

 

  • Proficiency with Adobe Suite, PhotoShop and Microsoft Office. Experience with graphic design a plus.
  • Familiarization with working on website maintenance and updates.
  • Skill in organizing resources and establishing priorities.
  • Ability to effectively and efficiently handle multiple, simultaneous, and complex tasks and projects
  • Information research, analysis, and evaluation skills.
  • Advanced verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse operation.
  • Demonstrated successful experience writing marketing copy.
  • Experience overseeing the design and production of print materials and publications.

Extremely comfortable with Twitter, TweetDeck, Instagram, Facebook, TweetReach, Pinterest. Knowledge of Tumblr and Google Plus a plus.
