Job Description:
The Director of Marketing is responsible for developing and implementing the advertising strategies and marketing campaigns for the University. This position reports directly to the Vice President of Marketing & Communications. The goal of this position is to develop creative direction for print, online, and integrated marketing efforts for all aspects of the University’s evolving brand in support of enrollment initiatives. The Director will provide expertise in the areas of market research and analysis, the development and writing of marketing plans, as well as creative briefs and storyboarding.  This position requires proven experience in optimal usage of social media and search engines.

Essential functions of this position include but are not limited to:

  • Enrollment marketing strategy, planning, and implementation;
  • University marketing and brand strategy;
  • Cross-media campaign design;
  • Advertising management;
  • Market research;
  • Digital and social media integration;
  • University websites;
  • Relationship development;
  • Departmental team leadership;
  • Writing and editing.

The Director serves as the primary liaison with the Admissions Department for marketing services and serves on the Marketing and Communications leadership team.  In addition, the position works closely with freelance consultants for specific projects to provide creative direction and oversight, as needed.

 Requirements:
A Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, or a related discipline as well as a minimum of 7 years of professional work experience with progressive levels of responsibility are required.  Candidates must have successful advertising development and media placement experience in addition to demonstrated expertise in social media and search engine marketing and optimization.  To be successful in this position, candidates must have the proven ability and experience to lead and manage a team as well as possess expert market level research skills. 

Experience in higher education or an industry that targets 16-24 year olds is preferred as is experience in marketing to adult students.

At the University's discretion, the education and experience prerequisites may be excepted where the candidate can demonstrate, to the satisfaction of the University, an equivalent combination of education and experience specifically preparing the candidate for success in the position.
