RN: Narragansett Indian Health Center opening for full-time (35 hrs/wk M-F)
The Narragansett Indian Health Center has immediate opening for a Pharmacy Technician, 35 hours per week.
JOB DETAILS: Under the direction and supervision of the Medical Director / Primary Physician or his/her Clinic Nurse Manager designee, this position will be responsible to perform a variety of routine and advanced technical duties relating to pharmacy services in accordance with standard procedures and techniques. Duties include, but not limited to: interfacing with patients, medical team, NIHC staff, and customers; receiving and filling prescription requests for patients; working with insurances; working with pharmacies to ensure CHS and Direct services requirements are followed; maintaining patient profiles; maintaining stocking and inventory of medications/sterile products; assisting medical care team with coordination and instruction to patients about medications; report writing; completing all required documentation; following policies/procedures to comply to legal/regulatory requirements; supporting providers in the provision of pharmacy services.
The Pharmacy Technician is responsible to:
- Answer pharmacy related phone calls
- Receive prescriptions
- Collect patient information relevant to new prescriptions and refills
- Stock medications
- Fill new and refill prescriptions
- Fill prescriptions labels
- Work with prescription insurance
- Perform inventory
- Provide an inventory report monthly, quarterly, and annually
- Assist in training of other staff who may be required to fill-in or assist with the pharmacy technicians duties
- Participate in rotation to clean pharmacy area, as locked premises may only be cleaned when physician is present.
PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS
- Two or more year's current experience as pharmacy technician in a busy pharmacy environment working with patients and with professional and technical staff, including order entry, filling prescriptions, insurance preparation, ordering/returns/stocking/inventory taking. Skills may have been acquired on the job or within an educational program, but candidate must meet minimum work experience requirements.
- RPMS Software experience
- Experience working with Electronic Health Record
- Though not an exhaustive list, other specialized experience, education, or skills desired include experience in continuing education and required travel, special interest areas in pharmacy, inventory management.
REQUIREMENTS: Requires at least 1 year of secondary education at an accredited college plus two (2) years prior experience working in a medical practice. Must have or obtain within six (6) months of employment and maintain a 1) current PTCB certification and 2) a current RI Registered Pharmacy Technician License Type II. Must obtain and maintain current CPR within three (3) months of employment. Must possess a valid state driver’s license from state of residence.
Position subject to background investigation. As part of the pre-employment process, fingerprint checks are required.
