SR Technical Writer/Documentation Engineer

Job Title:   Senior Technical Writer / Documentation Engineer

 

Position Summary:

Reporting to the Technical Publications Manager, this role involves the creation and maintenance of LTX-Credence end-user documentation. The environment offers the opportunity to work with latest technology and an environment of innovation. The role requires close working relationships with engineering and marketing groups, placing the writer in a central position during new product development.

The team environment offers a collaborative and cooperative workplace experience in which the writer is visible to all levels of the organization. This provides a motivated individual with many opportunities to establish a strong reputation within the organization.

 

Responsibilities:

Senior Technical Writers are responsible for creating content from engineering documents and design specifications. In addition the role requires the ability to interview technical subject matter experts to gather further information, or clarification of engineering documentation content. The role also includes creating and maintaining documentation builds using Webworks, Doxygen, and implementing scripts where applicable to ensure tasks are executed during the build activity.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or technical discipline
  • Bachelor of Science in English, Journalism, or Technical Communication
  • Excellent communication skills in both written and spoken English.

Experience:

  • Minimum five years experience creating and maintaining HTML / XML help systems.
  • Minimum five years working with documentation control systems, preferably Clearcase.
  • Expert in FrameMaker, Webworks, and Doxygen.
  • Minimum five years experience in a technical writing role.
  • Familiarity with Unix.
  • Ability to write and maintain scripts in the following: AWK, BASH, PERL and KORN.
  • Ability to work with Makefiles and dzbatcher.
  • PHP experience is an advantage.
  • Advance / Expert user of Photoshop and Creative Suite
